Description:
This person will support and provide guidance for IP Switching, VOIP solutions, and Telecommunications and Infrastructure implementation. Must have experience with SIP trunking and be strong on the Cisco Switching side with focus on VOIP

Job Specification

Responsibilities:
- ï‚ Participates in planning, designing, installing and configuring local and wide area networks.
- ï‚ Builds, configures and maintains network switches, routers, servers and various voice, data and security appliances.
- ï‚ Is responsible for the daily monitoring of the network and security appliances.
- ï‚ Develops and follows procedures to handle network and security fault events.
- ï‚ Monitors and reports on network and system capacity utilization.
- ï‚ Applies continuous improvement techniques to ensure the network and security infrastructure attains maximum performance, security and availability and provides reports regarding this topic to management.
- ï‚ Must be able to communicate effectively with all parts of the organization while under pressure.
- ï‚ Required to carry a cellular device and be on call outside of normal work hours.
- ï‚ Must be familiar with LAN/WAN Infrastructure in order to assist in implementation and security recommendations to the Infrastructure Support Team.
- ï‚ Full operation and maintenance responsibilities of all the core network & signaling elements: HLR, STP, with additional support as needed for CALEA and LSMS.
- ï‚ Schedule and perform upgrades to meet or exceed established Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements.
- ï‚ Subject Matter Expert (SME) on fault management and restoral events and assist network operations (NOC) team as needed to interface with the equipment vendor.
- ï‚ Assist in planning and implementation of set platform expansions and translations changes.
- ï‚ Analyze and troubleshoot network & signaling communication failures and bottlenecks.
- ï‚ Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program in alignment with 99.999% availability.
- ï‚ Proactively manage and optimize network & signaling systems and interface with the vendors for support if required.
Qualifications:
- ï‚ Knowledge and expertise in local and wide area networking and communications including; all forms of networking media and SPT, PVST, IGMP, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, RIP-II, MPLS, VOIP etc.
- ï‚ Must have recent Call Manager Experience.
- ï‚ Knowledge and expertise of Cisco Systems networking hardware and software and network and security support systems; CCNP Certification preferred.
- ï‚ Knowledge and expertise of telecommunications protocols and concepts (PSTN, VOIP, H323, must have SIP (trunking), knowledge of MGCP, etc.) a plus
- ï‚ Good knowledge of wireless technologies (802.11, WiFi, GSM, CDMA, EDGE, etc.) a plus
- ï‚ Direct, hands-on, experience on a VoIP platform of ANY vendor (Broadsoft, Sonus, Cisco, Tekelec, etc.)
- Tekelec T3000 / T8000 platform & media gateway system. Experience on Tekelec equipment is highly preferred.
- ï‚ Working knowledge of an entire VoIP system / network including: soft switch; media gateways; session directors ; session border controllers; IP network elements; TDM interconnect
- ï‚ Knowledge of protocols: SIP, H.323, SS7 (ISUP)
- ï‚ Protocol Analyzer use and message decoding
- ï‚ RTP stream capture & analysis
- ï‚ BA or BS in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent
- ï‚ Minimum of 6 years in Network Engineering, IT or related field
